At Last, Bora bora!!!
French Polynesia, August '07

So Many Cruising Areas!!
What a thrill to finally make it to the illusive Bora Bora Island! Photos really can't capture the beauty of the peaks. Of course all the tourists from the resorts are around to gawk at the sights with us....but no exotic destination setting stays the same. We left the crowds and expensive restaurants to sail as far around the island as the reef would allow. That's about 5/8 of the way. Sailing around all the reef areas was challenging and exciting....suddenly saw 6.5' depth....ooops! We got to stay in much less crowded anchorages with breathtaking views like the one below that shows the ancient volcano caldera shape. We discovered the largest moray eel we have seen while snorkling, about 6'. We scouted out the Four Seasons Resort under construction because of the extensive water and landscape system they were installing and because nobody threw us out! Lynn just loves that stuff after building the ponds in Atlanta in '96. We vowed to stay there on our 50th anniversary!
