The Puerto Rico Beat!!!

First we spend a week in Ponce catching up on all kinds of boat jobs that we put off when we are haing fun ashore: like polishing the deck, all the stainless steel, building a steel bar security door for more risky anchorages, and some sewing projects. This is the price we have to pay and then comes the fun life again so we can't complain. Our dinghy motor is not working and is still under warrantee so we take off for a huge marina closer to San Juan to have it fixed. The marina was fine in Ponce but right off the community "boardwalk" with 3...count 'em...3...LOUD salsa bands at the same time playing until about 2 every weekend night... whew...thanks for earplugs. SALSA OVERKILL!!!

We took a 2 1/2 day excursion to San Juan to sightsee and shop for needs that was both enjoyable and exhausting!!! They have put a lot of time and money into renovating Old San Juan and IT REALLY SHOWS!!! We would advise anyone to visit, especially on a convenient layover to other locations going south. The prices are reasonable especially getting a better rate by $100 for the hotel on Orbitz!!! It was a splurge but we loved the quaint quality and charm!! There is a lot of history all within walking distance and good food, too.
